Course Overview
About Adobe Audition
“Adobe Audition” CC is a Professional Multi-Track Digital Audio Workstation for mixing, finishing and precision editing of Audio Projects for Radio, Television, Internet Streaming, Music Editing etc.
Before it was purchased by Adobe Systems, “Adobe Audition” was known as “Cool Edit Pro” and was originally developed by Syntrillium Software, which was founded in the early 1990s by Robert Ellison and David Johnston, former Microsoft employees.
Adobe purchased Cool Edit Pro from Syntrillium Software in May 2003 and re branded Cool Edit Pro as “Adobe Audition”. From Syntrillium Software, Adobe also purchased a large loop library called “Loopology” for using with Adobe Audition. The Loopology library includes thousands of uncompressed, royalty-free audio sound effects and music loop files. These files have been grouped together by type and style into ZIP archives and can be downloaded directly from the Adobe website.
After its purchase from Syntrillium Software, ”Adobe Audition” was officially released on 18 August 2003 with some bug fixes but without any major new features, and was essentially a more polished Cool Edit Pro 2.1 under a different name. But soon Adobe did a major upgrade with Audition v1.5 around mid 2004; major improvements included pitch correction, frequency space editing, CD project view, basic video editing and integration with Adobe Premiere.
Over the next one decade Adobe kept on upgrading the various Versions for “Adobe Audition” and in 2011 it released Adobe Audition Version 4 as part of the Adobe Creative Suite. Adobe Creative Suite popularly known as “Adobe CS” was a software suite of Graphic Design, Video Editing, Audio Editing and Web Development applications developed by Adobe Systems.
The Version 5 of “Adobe Audition” was packaged as part of the last version of Adobe Creative Suite, CS6. In mid 2013 Adobe announced that future versions of their Creative Suite Applications would only be available via their new online Adobe Creative Cloud subscription service. Creative Cloud has been nicked CC.
Adobe Creative Cloud is a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering from Adobe Systems that gives users access to a collection of software developed by Adobe for Graphic Design, Video Editing, Audio Editing, Web Development, Photography, and Cloud Services. In Creative Cloud, over a SaaS Platform a monthly or annual subscription service is delivered over the Internet. Software from Creative Cloud can be downloaded from the Internet, installed directly on a local computer and used as long as the subscription remains valid.
“Adobe Audition”, Version 6, popularly known as Audition CC (Creative Cloud) , was released mid 2013. It happens to be the first in the “Adobe Audition” line to be part of the Adobe Creative Cloud. And also, Audition CC happened to be the first 64-bit application among the past Adobe Audition versions, the older Adobe Audition Versions were all 32 bit. Being 64 Bit Application, Audition CC can provide faster processing time when compared to Audition Version 5 (Audition CS 6) . Some other new features that were included are Sound Remover, Preview Editor and Pitch Bender. Subsequent Version releases of Adobe Auditions in the Creative Cloud were Adobe Audition 7 (Adobe Audition CC 2014) and Adobe Audition 8 (Adobe Audition CC, 2015). Very soon release of Adobe Audition 9 (Adobe Audition CC 2016) is be expected mid 2016.
