About Microsoft PowerPoint 2010
Microsoft PowerPoint is a program of slide show presentation that is developed currently by Microsoft. Initially the name of PowerPoint was “Presenter” which had been created by Forethought Inc. On May 22, 1990, Microsoft officially launched its version of PowerPoint. This PowerPoint was a component of the “Microsoft Office suite”. At present, PowerPoint is among the most commonly used programs of presentation that are available and it provides assistance in the development of a format of presentation that is slide based.
History of PowerPoint
The initial release that was known as “Presenter” was designed originally by Macintosh computer and was developed by Dennis Austin as well as Thomas Rudkin of Forethought Inc. The “Presenter” was renamed to “PowerPoint” in 1987 as there were issues with the trademarks. The idea of the name “PowerPoint” came from Robert Gaskins. In the same year, in August, Microsoft bought Forethought for $14 million USD. It went on to become the “Graphics Business Unit” of Microsoft and it continued the process of developing the software even further. PowerPoint’s Microsoft version was launched officially on the same day on which Windows 3.0 was released by Microsoft.
Several new changes were introduced by PowerPoint when the PowerPoint 97 was released. The incorporation of the “Visual Basic for Applications” (VBA) was done in this version which underlined every macro generation of Office 97. Later on PowerPoint 2000 version was launched along with the rest of the suite of Office 2000. In this version, a clipboard was introduced which was capable of holding a number of objects at one time. Also in this version, the “Office Assistant” was made to be less intrusive.
The animation engine was overhauled massively by PowerPoint 2002 version which allowed the users to create animations that were more customized as well as advanced. The launch of the PowerPoint 2011 version introduced the possibility of removing image backgrounds. It also provided more special effects like the “Pencil effects” for the picture. By 2012, the different versions of PowerPoint claimed 95% of the market share of the presentation share that had been installed in a minimum of 1 billion computers. This program is being used at a frequency that is estimated to be nearly 350 times in a second by the presenters all over the world.
Operation
The presentations of PowerPoint comprise several individual pages which are called “slides”. The analogy of the slide refers to the “slide projector”. Slides consist of movies, sound, graphics, text and other objects that can freely arranged. The presentation that is created may be displayed on a computer live, printed or navigated by means of the navigator’s command. If the number of audience is large, the display of the computer is usually known as the “video projector”. The basis of the webcasts can be the slides.
Three kinds of movements are provided by PowerPoint. These are –
- Custom Animations control the entrance, emphasis as well as the exit of the slide elements.
- The movements that take place between the slides which are known as transitions can be animated in multiple ways.
- Small story boards can be created through custom animation by animating pictures for entering, exiting or moving.
Several features are provided by PowerPoint which gives the ability as well as the flexibility of creating a presentation that is professional. The presentations can have sound files and can also be designed in a way that it runs like a movie. The slide show can be recorded with the help of a narration as well as a pointer. The slides can also be customised so that they can be seen in an order that is different from the original and a particular slide can also be seen several times. The ability of broadcasting the presentation to particular users through a link as well as Windows Live is also offered by Microsoft
