Introduction to FL Studio Keyboard Shortcuts
FL Studio keyboard shortcuts help you speed up your work in this software while working on audio editing, processing, and manipulation. Keyboard shortcuts are a combination of keyboard keys, and by pressing them in combination, we can access any command very quickly as you can press the Ctrl + Shift + R button of a keyboard to have Export Mp3 file command active, F4 for the next empty pattern with naming dialog box and so on. I will tell you some of the shortcuts of this software, but you can also check more shortcuts from the Context menu of the menu bar.
Before discussing different shortcuts, I would like to tell you the equivalent keys of Windows and Mac so you can understand the shortcuts for both.
The Alt key of Windows is equivalent to the Option key of Mac, which means if there is any key with a combination of the Alt key of Windows, if you are using that particular combination on Mac OS, you have to press the Option button to access that shortcut in Mac.
Keyboard Shortcuts for FL Studio

- Backspace = Delete (<X): For Backspace of Windows, press the delete(<X) button on Mac.
- Ctrl = Command: For the Ctrl button of Windows, press the Command key of Mac.
- Delete = fn + Delete (<): For the Delete button of Windows, press fn+ Delete (<X) key of Mac.
- Insert = fn + Return: For the Insert button of Windows, press fn + Return key of Mac.
- Windows = Command: For the Windows icon button, press the Command key of Mac.
Basic Shortcuts of FL Studio:
- Undo/Redo last Edit (Ctrl + Z): If You want to return to the last step in your work, press the Ctrl (Command) + z button on the keyboard.
- Undo step by step (Ctrl + Shift + Z): If you want to go back to the previous steps one by one, then you can press the Ctrl + Shift + z buttons on the keyboard.
- Open File (Ctrl +O): To open your existing file of an audio track or your previously saved file, you can press Ctrl + O.
- Save File (Ctrl + S): If you press ctrl + S, you can have a save dialog box directly to save any file of your work.
- Save New Version (Ctrl + N): By pressing Ctrl + N buttons, you can save new versions of your audio editing work.
- Save As (Ctrl + Shift + S): If you want to save your saved work again in a new location or with a new file format, then you can press Ctrl + Shift + S for save as an option.
- Export Wave File (Ctrl + R): For exporting any wave file from this software, you can have the export command by pressing the Ctrl + R buttons on the keyboard.
- Export Mp3 File (Ctrl + Shift + R): In the same way as exporting wave files, you can also export mp3 files from this software, and for this command, you have to press the Ctrl + Shift + R buttons of the keyboard.
- Export MIDI File (Ctrl + Shift + M): By pressing Ctrl + Shift + M, you can export any file in MIDI file format.
- Open Recent Files (Ctrl + 0, 1,….9): You can open recently used files of this software very quickly by pressing Ctrl + 0, Ctrl + 1….and so on; that means if you press Ctrl + 0, then it will open just last used file, and if you press Ctrl + 1 then it will open a file which is used before last used file and so on in this sequence.
- Rearrange Windows (Ctrl + Shift + H): By pressing the keyboard’s Ctrl + Shift + H button, you can rearrange opened windows or tabs of this software.
- Select Patterns (1…9): You can select patterns in sequence by pressing the keyboard’s 1 to 9 numeric keys.
- Next Pattern (+): If you want to move on to the next pattern of the pattern panel, press the + button on the keyboard.
- Previous Pattern (-): Same as moving to the next pattern, you can also move to the previous pattern by pressing the – key of a keyboard.
- Open Name Editor (F2): Press the F2 functional key of the keyboard to open the name editor dialog box for the selected pattern; if you repeat this key, it will choose colors randomly.
- Next Empty Pattern dialog box (F4): To have the name dialog box of the next empty pattern, press the F4 functional key of a keyboard.
- Next Empty Pattern (Ctrl + F4): If you want to have the next empty pattern, press Ctrl + F4.
- Select Channel Above (Up Arrow): Press the Up arrow button on the keyboard to select the above channel.
- Select Channel Below (Down Arrow): Press the Down arrow button on the keyboard to select below the channel.
- Select Next Channel Group (Page Up): You can select the next channel group by pressing the Page Up button on the keyboard.
- Select Previous Channel Group (Page Down): You can select the whole previous channel group by pressing the Page Down button on the keyboard.
- Delete Channel (Alt + Del): If you want to delete a selected channel or channels, select those channels and press the Alt + Del button on the keyboard.
- Move Channel Up (Alt + Up Arrow): If you want to move selected channels or channels upward, press the Alt + Up Arrow buttons on the keyboard.
- Move Channel Down (Alt + Down Arrow): If you want to move selected channels or channels downward, press the keyboard’s Alt + Down Arrow buttons.
- Clone Channels (Alt + C): You can make a clone of selected channels by pressing the Alt + C button on the keyboard.
- Group Channels (Alt + G): You can group channels if you want, and for that, select your desired channel, which you want to group, and then press the Alt + G button on the keyboard.
