#1 Iskcon Temple
Iskcon Temple, also known as Sri-Sri Radha Banke Bihari Ji Temple, is present deep into the heart of the capital city of Bihar, one of Patna’s major pilgrimage hubs. Founder Acharya visited Patna with the state’s first Governor and has written about preaching in Bihar. In April 2007, the Chief Minister of Bihar laid the foundation stone of this temple in Patna. It stands as one of the largest Krishna temples in the city and the entire state of Bihar.
Iskcon is a religious community focusing mainly on the Hindu deity – Sri Krishna. Three other divinities of this temple are Sri Gaur Nitai, Sri Radha Banke Bihari, and Sri Ram Darbar. Skillfully carved statues of Radha and Krishna are present here, a major attraction within this temple. One can enjoy the delightful and highly mesmerizing Harinam Kirtan and Prasadam throughout the day. Many religious activities, such as Yatras and other important festivals, happen here joyfully and enthusiastically.
#2 Mahavir Mandir
Mahavir Mandir, popularly known as Manokamna Temple, earmarks its significance to Lord Hanuman as one of the holy temples dedicated to him. It is present in the heart of Patna city, where millions of pilgrims visit daily to offer prayer and seek the blessings of God. The budget of the temple trusts is the second highest in North India after the Vaishno Devi shrine. One can find various facilities such as shops, offices, and palmistry centers in its complex.
Festivals like Ram Navami and New Year celebrations occur every year, with thousands of pilgrims visiting the Mandir. Long queues are present at the temple, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays, which are to be the worshiping days of Lord Hanuman. The devotees can enjoy free food made at Ram Rasoi and Sita Rasoi, managed by Shri Mahavir Sthan Nyas Samiti. Moreover, Tirupati experts prepare the famous delicacy – Naivedyam is the prasadam provided at the temple. Mahavir Mandir is close to the Patna Railway Station.
#3 Gurudwara Patna Sahib
Takht Sri Patna Sahib is popularly known as Patna Sahib, recognized as the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru – Shri Guru Gobind Singh. The first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire – Maharaja Ranjit Singh, built the Gurudwara. The construction of the present-day shrine of Patna Sahib is in the 1950s. Takht Sri Patna Sahib is one of the five Takhts or authorities of the Sikhs in Patna, Bihar. In the 18th century, Maharaja Ranjit Singh commissioned the construction of the Takht to mark the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Harmandir Takht Shri Patna Sahib is one of the holiest pilgrimages for the Sikh community on the banks of the holy Ganga. The Gurudwara is the epicenter of Sikhism in the Eastern part of India. Patna Sahib is near the railway station and connects to Patna City Chowk through Guru Gobind Road. Every day, the Ardaas prayer happens here at 5:45 A.M. and the evening prayer at 6:00 P.M. Besides, langar is a free food service offered to the pilgrims. People celebrate the festival of Prakash Parv, the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, annually in this gurudwara.
#4 Bari Patan Devi Mandir
The Patan Devi Mandir is one of the oldest temples in the city, which was initially called Maa Sarvanand Kari Patneshwari. It is one of the 51 Siddha Shakti Pithas in India as per Hindu mythology and is the most visited religious place in the country. Interestingly, the name of the city Patna is famous for its origin in the name of this Temple.
On the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi, a mela happens every year, wherein people from all across the country visit here. Devotees generally bring sweets, bouquets, fruits, and money as Dakshina as an offering to thank the deities. It is highly recommended that the visitors witness the daily morning and evening rituals, offered prasad and aarti while reciting hymns by the priest and ringing bells.
