Definition of Bill of Sale Examples
A bill of sale is a legal document that details a sale of goods or property transfer between buyer and seller in black and white. A bill of sale is evidence the seller has transferred the rights to the assets to the buyer.
A Bill of Sale is of Two Forms
- An absolute bill of sale does not represent any form of security but is as per the common law of contract and the sale of goods law.
- A conditional bill of sale is represented by security for the payment of money.
Also known as “purchase and sale,” the form is very simple, with the financial terms of the agreement and the signature of the seller and buyer if required, whereas a point-of-sale refers to the location where the transaction is completed. At this point of sale, the monetary funds—which could be cash, cheque, or net banking as per the deal—must be executed at the time of purchase.
