Channing Tatum was conceived on April 26, 1980, in Cullman, Alabama, to Kay (née Faust), an air carrier worker, and Glenn Tatum, a factory worker. He was a Southern Baptist. Paige is his only sibling. Tatum is of English ancestry. As a child, Tatum played football and baseball and was a track and field runner. He attended Gaither High School in Tampa, Florida, where he was in the National Honor Society.
He eventually graduated from Gaither High School and attended Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia. At the beginning of this period, Tatum quit his job as a roofer to work as a stripper at a nearby bar under the alias “Chan Crawford.” And that’s when the idea for the movie Magic Mike got started.
