Course Overview
Elements of Aeronautics Training Course:
Aeronautics is the study of the science of aircraft. Aeronautics is the technique of designing an airplane or other flying machine. In order to design a plane it is essential for engineers or engineering students to understand the four most vital areas or elements and which includes aerodynamics, propulsion, materials and structures and stability and control. Whereas aerodynamics deals with the training of how air flows around the aircraft. By learning the way air flows around the aircraft the engineers or engineering students can describe the outline of the aircraft. The wings, the tail, and the main body or fuselage of the aircraft all affect the way the air will move around the plane. Propulsion deals with the training of how to plan an engine that will offer the thrust that is required for an aircraft to take off and fly through the air. The engine offers the command for the aircraft. Materials & Structures deals with the learning of what resources are to be used on the airplane and in the engine and how those resources make the aircraft robust enough to fly successfully. The selection of resources that are used to make the fuselage wings, tail and engine will affect the forte and constancy of the plane. Stability & Control process deals with the learning of how to regulate the speed, way, altitude and other situations that affect how an aircraft flies.
The course starts with an introduction to the basic concepts of aerospace engineering, early airplanes, biplanes and monoplanes. We will also be discussing Aircraft Configurations where we will discuss in details Components of an airplane and their functions, Different types of flight vehicles, classifications, Conventional control, Powered control, Basic instruments for flying and typical systems for control actuation.
The course will also discuss the Principles of Flight, Physical properties and structure of the atmosphere, Temperature, pressure and altitude relationships. Then we move on to learn Evolution of lift, drag and moment, aero foil’s, Mach number and Maneuvers.
We will also be dealing in Airplane Structures and Materials, General types of construction, Monocoque, semi-monocoque construction, typical wing and fuselage structure. We will take a look in details of Metallic and non-metallic materials, Use of aluminum alloy, titanium, stainless steel and composite materials.
Finally, the course will take the participants to understand Power Plants Used In Airplanes, Basic ideas about piston, turboprop and jet engines, Use of propeller and jets for thrust production, Comparative merits, Principles of operation of rocket, types of rockets and typical applications, Exploration into space.
