Course Overview
Advanced ITIL Overview
This course is an online training course on Advanced ITIL and provides you understanding about service transition and service operation modules in ITIL. The course is a well-reviewed and well-received one. It generally is rated as a four-star course. ITIL is abbreviated as Information Technology Infrastructure Library and is a bunch of practices intended for IT service management (ITSM) that mainly concentrates on supporting IT services with the needs of business and entrepreneurship. The most recent edition, called the ITIL 2000 edition, is published as a series of five core volumes and each of these volumes covers a different ITSM lifecycle range. It underpins ISO/IEC 20000, the International Service Management Standard for IT Service Management. But, as an offhand mention, there are some discrepancies between the ISO 20000 standard and the ITIL framework.
ITIL deals with processes, tasks, checklists, procedures and that too on a rather generalized platform. It is not limited to an organisation. Instead, an organization can use it to establish integration with its strategy, to deliver value and sustain a minimum stage of competency. The organization can now plan, carry out and ascertain after establishing a baseline. It not only demonstrates compliance but also assesses improvement.
After July 2013, ITIL was taken over by AXELOS, a joint venture between Capita and Cabinet Office. AXELOS functions as a licensing authority to organizations enabling them to use ITIL intellectual property. It also functions as an accreditor to licensed examination institutes and manages updates to the framework. With impending importance on IT, the UK government’s Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA) developed a set of recommendations in the decade of the 80s. It identified that without standard practices, government agencies and private sector contracts had begun creating their own management practices. As a result, the IT Infrastructure Library began as a collection of books. This collection of books was created around a process model-based view of controlling and managing operations which is often credited to W. Edwards Deming and his plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle. The publications that began in 1989 and carried on in the initial stages to 1996 grew within ITIL to more than 30 volumes. Then the library grew from what it was in 2000-2001 to reach greater heights in 2007 and then changed into an even more resourceful library in 2011.
The ITIL course deals with the terminology, structure and the basic concepts of ITIL and enables the comprehension of the core principles of ITIL practices for Service Management. The ITIL framework enables IT to be a business service partner instead of merely being a back-end support. So, ITIL courses of action and best practices align IT actions and expenses to business needs and alter them as the business grows or shifts direction.
ITIL-based IT infrastructure management may actually be quite a complex specialty for any business. As a result, it is to a great extent the domain of the biggest IT-centric businesses like Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and IBM along with other big enterprises in retail, finance, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and entertainment.
