Oracle Database 12c Quicksart Course:
eduCBA brings you a course on Oracle 12C. Quickstart. In this course of Oracle Database 12c Quicksart you will be learning about
-
Introduction:
In this section , we will introduce the database concept as well as Oracle Database 12c features. We will also cover the hardware and software prerequisites that are needed to run database operations in the Windows environment.
We will then introduce the concept of database schema and schema objects in the form of tables, indexes and views and proceed to describe the HR Sample Schema that will be used to understand database operations.
We will study the Entity/Relationship (E/R) Diagram of the HR schema in terms of entities or tables and its constituents or columns as well as relationships between various entities or tables.
We will then connect to the HR schema by using the Windows terminal window and SQL*Plus utility.
We will also study SQL statements to unlock the HR schema and how to get description of the database tables in terms of columns, attributes and constraints.
-
Query the HR schema:
In this section you will be making use of SQL*Plus statements to query the database tables and obtain results. You will first learn how to connect to the HR schema and unlock the database.
You will also retrieve selected columns and restrict data from the query as well as use clauses to sort the query output in ascending or descending order.
You will use the predefined tables and preloaded data in these tables to carry out these operations. This will provide insight into the various types of retrievals that can be performed in the database by using the SQl*Plus utility.
-
Creating a Schema:
In this section you will be creating a new schema or user in the database by making use of its Entity/Relationship (E/R) diagram . You will make use of DDL commands and SQL*Plus utility to create a user and assign privileges.
The various system and object privileges and how to assign them through SQL*Plus will be discussed in detail. You will also create all the tables in the E/R diagram as well as define their columns, attributes and constraints.
You will also learn how to specify primary and foreign keys to the database tables. After the tables are setup using DDL commands, you will use DML commands through SQL*Plus utility to populate rows or values in the database tables and columns. You will also use SQL statements to insert, modify and delete records in the database or schema.
You will also learn how to undo and save records by using commit and rollback on the current set of transactions.
In addition, you will learn how to drop or remove tables by overriding the constraints, and also revoke system privileges for database connections or operations.
