Introduction to Pixel effect in Photoshop
Photoshop is an image editing software that was developed by adobe systems. We can create a different type of effect in this software by using some features and techniques of this software. Pixel is an effect through which you can create an illusion of scattering of the pixel of an image by using some features of this software. In this article, we will learn how to add pixel effects on our image and also learn how to handle parameters of different features of the creation of pixel effect. How to Create a Pixel Effect in Photoshop?
We can create this effect on our image by using few steps of different features of the creation of this effect. But before starting we should have an overview of the working screen of this software so that we can better understand this topic.
At the top of the working screen, there is a ribbon which is called Menu bar which has some menus such as File, Edit, Image, and some other. Below this bar, we have another bar which we called property bar of active tool or active image. Below this second bar, we have some sections in which, on the left side we have a tool panel, at the center we have a display window, at the right side we have some panel such as color, layer panel and some other. You can reset all these sections as per your choice at any place on the user screen of this software.
Now let us have an image for our learning. You can take your image or download it from the internet. I have downloaded an image from the internet. So go to the File menu and click on it. Click on Open option of drop list of File menu for placing an image in this software.
Now a dialog box will be open. Go to the folder of your saved image on your personal computer and choose your desired image by click on it. Once you have chosen make click on the Open button of this dialog box.
After placing the image take the Quick selection tool from the tool panel of this software for making selection in the image.
Make a proper selection around this human and make right click with the mouse button in the selection area. Choose the ‘Layer Via Copy’ option from the drop-down list by click on it.
Once you click on it a copy of your selection with a transparent background will create in layer section named Layer 1. Now go to the tool panel of this software and take the Rectangular Marquee tool from there by clicking on it.
Now go to layer panel and select the background layer then make a selection like this around this human. Once you have the selection, make right click with the mouse right button in the selection area and choose Fill option from the drop-down list.
Now a Fill dialog box will be open, choose Content-Aware option from contents option of this box then press the Ok button of this box.
Now drag Layer 1 to the button of ‘create new layer’ option of layer panel for making a copy of this layer.
Now select Layer 1 and again make a right click in the selection area. Choose the Free Transform option from the drop-down list.
Now a transform box will come around this image so increase the size of this image by dragging the boundary of transform box like this.
Now go to the bottom of the layer panel of this software and make click on Add Layer mask button for adding mask on Layer 1.
Now set foreground color as black and background color as white in the color box of the tool panel.
Now click on the mask of this layer and go to the tool panel then take the Paint Bucket tool from there.
Now drop color on the mask image by bucket tool and it will cover your image like this.
Now select Layer copy 1 in the layer section and click on Add mask button of layer panel for adding mask in this layer.
Now click on the mask of this layer and take a brush tool from the tool panel of this software.
Now select Hard brush or Soft brush according to you from brush size box.
Now click on ‘Toggle the Brush settings panel’ option.
Now select Scattering option in the brush settings box and set the value of Scatter as 1000%.
Now click on the Shape Dynamics option and set Size Jitter option value as up to 90 %.
Now adjust the size of the brush according to your requirement from brush size option of property bar of brush and spread the color with a brush like this on the layer mask of this layer. Make sure the foreground color is black.
Now select the black mask of another layer.
And change foreground color as white then spread brush like this.
Now select layer 2 and click on the Function button of the layer panel. Choose Blending Options from the list.
Click on the Drop Shadow option of the opened dialog box. Decrease the value of the opacity of this drop shadow option up to 50% and adjust the shadow of the pixel by dragging this layer a little bit in the image area.
Now again make a copy of Layer 2.
Select mask of layer 2 then go to the Filter menu of the menu bar and click on it. Go to the Stylize option of the drop-down list and choose Wind option from the new drop-down list.
A box of Wind will be open. Choose Wind option from the Method option of this box and press the Ok button of this box.
You can see the wind effect on the pixel of the image.
In this way, you can make a pixel effect on your image.
