2. Taking a decision is their job
An ideal successful project manager will always make sure that he makes the right decision. Your decision will affect the successful manager and his team as he has taken the decision and the performance of one and all in the team. Keeping all these aspects and the entire team in mind and their ability to perform on the decision is the manager’s job before making his decision. He makes sure that he knows the entire story before he makes or takes his decision. And it doesn’t end here; he also ensures he walks with his team to make them perform and live up to his decision.
3. Making mistakes is the right way to learn
The successful project manager knows that his team members will make mistakes not just once but twice, thrice, four, five, and maybe even six times. That does not mean this team member is not efficient enough or cannot learn. He knows that only making mistakes can help them learn better. Making his team members understand the task by giving examples of others will not help them learn. However, failure is the 1st step to success. He will let his team members make mistakes so that they can learn. However, he will also have solutions and resolutions for these mistakes. Every error has a resolution; the right managers find the same in time to give an instant resolution.
4. Everything is not controllable or completely able
Successful manager skills need to understand that he is working with human beings, not magicians or God. A successful business manager will know that his team member will not have control over every situation, and neither can even his best performer complete every task given to him daily. Successful manager qualities will always make sure he has a solution for uncontrollable situations. He will also ensure that he gives his team members enough time to complete a task. He will also highlight urgent tasks or jobs. However, in both situations, the successful business manager is the only person who will completely trust his employees and motivate them enough to succeed.
5. Creates a self-sufficient team
A manager goes through several hurdles to become a successful business manager. He has used his skills and efficiency to overcome his huddles. And of course, every employee has ways of handling their problems; however, Successful manager skills will always guide his team members and share his way of tackling hurdles so that even his team members learn his success Mantra!!! Passing on a success mantra to help the team succeed is a sign of successful manager qualities.
6. Work as a team
What is a successful manager without teamwork? If a manager cannot make his teamwork as a team, then this manager is not a successful manager. However, we believe in teamwork; besides individual work and success, we also focus on our team’s success. This gives us individual growth and helps our team succeed in its mission. Successful manager qualities will ensure his team comes and works as a team when required; however, his team members will always be self-sufficient in managing their tasks. There are times when the jobs need to be done within a specified duration; however, it is impossible to do it single-handedly; this is where the efforts of a team and its manager are tested.
7. Appreciation is a very strong tool
A successful manager knows that he must appreciate his team and his team members. This appreciation should be over emails, across the table one to one, amid the team, and the rest of the office. Successful manager skills can request the HRM of your organization to issue appreciation certificates for the team members and hand them over to the employee amid the entire office; this gives the employee and his job recognition and appreciation. Successful managers find different ways to appreciate their team members and make it work for them in their favor; however, the employee needs to perform that well.
8. Motivation is the second strongest tool
An employee will strive hard enough to achieve the desired goal if adequately motivated. Not you, not me; everyone on this planet works for money because the brand name, growth, success, and promotions are all linked and related to what package or money you will be paid at the end of the day. However, managers use different kinds of motivational tricks to get work done. Successful managers will try to get their employees promoted and make sure they are earning well enough for the organization’s progress because of its employees.
9. Rotational jobs
Sitting on a single designation and doing the same job is extremely monotonous and often a real employee turn-off. If they are stuck on a single job for days, weeks, months, and years, the employees get bored and irritated with their job. Managers who care about their employees and want them to perform well rotate their jobs, shifting them to a different jobs for a few days or weeks. This way, the employee learns a different job and gets a break from his existing one. Today job rotation has become an important part of HR management. This also prevents the attrition rate in the companies.
10. An all-around team
A successful business manager is known for the ability of his team members to perform any job with the same efficiency level. As a successful business manager, he would never want to depend on the skills of a single team member; instead, he will make sure that all his team members can perform the same task efficiently and smoothly. And he will use training and job rotations, and product notes to ensure that each team member has all the required skills to perform any job single-handedly. This means the absence of a team member will not affect his team’s performance.
11. Training arrangements
Successful managers know that their team needs to be updated with the latest developments in the market, company, and industry developments. Hence he makes sure that he arranges training for his team members. He knows the weakness of his team members, and he also knows what training needs to be provided. This training can be a professional one under professional trainers, or maybe he or other team members who are good at a specific job can help them by training members who need help. However, Successful managers know the facts and hence arrange training programs for their employees.
12. Availability of resources
Work does not have to stop for any reason; it is the strategy of a good manager. A good manager will ensure that his subordinates do not fall short of any required resources. Now that resource can either be the latest and good computers fast enough to process the jobs or a stapler and its pins. Non-availability of any resource creates frustration among employees who have great potential. A manager who would want to keep all the negativity away from his team members will make sure that he makes all possible resources available for his team.
13. Helps skill development
Sometimes, even the employees have no idea they have specific skills, such as leadership, marketing, management, etc. Every team member is different and has different skills they have by birth or have developed by practicing. A successful business manager looks for these skills in his team members and helps them develop them even better. However, some team members need to work hard on their skills. But remember, skills can only be developed and sharpened with practice. A good manager can recognize and help his team develop or highlight these skills.
14. Timely feedback
As a team member, feedbacks need to be welcomed. Well, even a successful business manager needs to know how to convey his feedback. Feedback can be good or bad both. The point is that this feedback needs to come to the concerned person on time. For example, if an employee has made a mistake, this can be either a small or a big mistake; this mistake must be brought to his notice then and there and not during his appraisals. The matter will cool them down and will not make any difference. However, if the fault and the error are highlighted, and feedback is given immediately, the employee knows where to correct himself and how. A great manager will also tell you when and where you can improve by making small improvements.
15. Balanced work life
We are all working to give our families a good and decent standard of living. However, if you do not have the time for your family when they need you the most of your work or your job will make no sense to you. Thus it makes sense to have a proper work-life balance. Your work is important, and so is your family for whom you work. Not forgetting too much work can also stress you out, not giving you enough rest. A good and successful business manager will ensure that his employees take their mandatory leaves, have a good time with their families, and leave their job stress back at work.
Every manager you come across will be different in their approach to their employees and subordinates; however, his motive will be the growth of his organization, his subordinate, and finally himself. His strength will be with his team, and he will ensure that each team member makes the most out of his skills and experience. To get successful manager qualities, one has to practice interpersonal skills and, of course, soft skills. Working with the team is the motive of the successful manager’s qualities.
