#1 Gangtok
Gangtok is situated in the eastern Himalayas and is given the status of the capital of Sikkim. Because of its scenic beauty, it is one of the best tourist places here. Because of its cultural beauty and historical significance, you should visit and enjoy Sikkim. You can catch the glimpse of Mt. Kanchenjunga from Gangtok. Religious sites for example, Enchey Monastery, Ganesh Tok, etc. are present here. You may visit Ganeshtok and Tashi Viewpoint to have a look at the city from the top.
The best time to visit is between March to April and October to November. Avoid traveling here in the rainy season. Also because of the higher altitude, there is a lack of oxygen in the air. So, if you are having a breathing problem, please consult with your doctor before visiting here.
#2 Tsogmo Lake
One of the top tourist destinations in Sikkim, Tsogmo Lake is situated at 40 km distance from the Gangtok main city. The meaning of Tsogmo is “Source of Water”. This lake is one of the highest-altitude lakes in India. This lake reflects the view of the mountains around it, making it look more beautiful.
You are advised to visit this place before sunset as the roads are not laid out properly which can be dangerous at night. You can enjoy the snowfall in Jan and Feb and Orchids in April and March.
#3 Nathula Pass
This place is having political importance for Sikkim and India. It is the border between India and Tibet. In the border area, you can find the amalgamation of Indian and Tibetan cultures. There is a trade market on the border called ‘Sherathang’, where you can buy souvenirs for friends and family.
#4 Kanchenjunga Base Camp
Kanchenjunga is the world’s third-highest mountain peak and camping it while visiting should be on your bucket list. The trekking to Kanchenjunga initiates from Dzongri. Dzongri is the place where you can go by vehicle and then then you have to start your trekking journey.
#5 Lachen, Lachung and Yumthang Valley
These are the three beautiful villages in north Sikkim. Gurudongmar and Tso Lhamu lakes can be seen from Lachen village. You can experience immense peace in three villages. Lachung can be visited for a snowfall experience and in Yumthang, a beautiful flower valley can be seen.
#6 Pelling
Pelling is one of the most visited places in Sikkim because of its gigantic views. It can be easily reached from main tourist places like Gangtok and Darjeeling. The north-eastern food is very popular in Pelling. You should plan to visit Pelling between December and May.
#7 Zuluk
Zuluk is the location from where you can see the beautiful view of the mountains around it. Mt. Kanchenzunga and Thambi View Point can be viewed from Zuluk. There is a Nag temple also here in which King Cobra is worshipped. This temple feels like a snake hole while entering.
#8 Teesta River
Teesta River is another beautiful location in Sikkim. In winter you can view the frozen state appearance of the river while in summer, you can see the shiny water in the river and the beautiful flowers around it. The Sangam of Teesta River and Rangeet River can be also viewed. You can enjoy River rafting and Kayaking here.
#9 Gurudongmar Lake
Gurudongmar Lake is at 17,800 feet from sea level. You can see Yaks and Blue sheep around this lake. This lake is considered holy by three religions- Hindu, Sikh, and Buddhist.
#10 Goechala
Goecahala is one of the best-visited places in Sikkim. Adventure lovers and trekkers love this place. This place is famous for skiing and hiking and if you are not a fan of trekking then also you should visit this place for its mesmerizing views.
